Navigate: Exploring College and Careers

OVERVIEW

Many students may not be familiar with the pathways to education and jobs after high school. The Navigate curriculum gives them tools to investigate a career they’re interested in, find out what education they’ll need, prepare to apply for college and determine how to pay for it.

Grade Level

Unit 1 Exploring Careers

In this lesson, students will learn how training and skill development and productivity through an activity and career research.

Unit 2 What About College?

In this lesson, students will learn basic terms used to describe colleges and will conduct research and present findings on different types of institutions.

Unit 3 How Do I Get In?

In this lesson, students will complete a graphic organizer about the factors that colleges consider during the admission process and then apply these lessons to their own situation.

Unit 4 How Much Does College Cost?

In this lesson, students will learn about different categories of college costs and conduct research to determine costs for a variety of types of colleges.

Unit 5 Paying for College

In this lesson, students will be introduced to the major types of financial aid. Students will then create an information web about paying for college

Unit 6 Future Paths

In this lesson, students will review key concepts about the college exploration and application process and imagine a college success story.
