How do job candidates convince employers to hire them? While an impressive resume, glowing recommendations, and effective interview skills are ideal, potential workers must demonstrate their value to be hired by signaling how productive they will be in this new position.
In this active-learning simulation, students act as workers with various levels of productivity, competing for jobs from businesses looking for the most efficient employees possible. Additionally, students will analyze the relationship between educational attainment, productivity, and income.
Designed for high school students, the entire lesson plan can be used in one traditional 45–50-minute class period. All materials to conduct the simulation and presentation including PowerPoint slides and handouts are included. A written assessment is also provided as part of the resource.
"Signal" to your students that the best way to get the job is to show how productive they can be. Click on the button below to explore the activity.
