Federal Reserve Education published today a special curriculum page that offers multiple ways to help teachers and students understand how the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) uses modern tools to conduct monetary policy. After 2008 and continuing today, the Fed operates in an ample reserves environment and uses interest on reserve balances to adjust the federal funds rate.
Many educators have found that traditional resources have not caught up to this new monetary policy model. Now with a new one stop shop on FRE.org instructors can find active learning activities, lecture guides and online resources with videos, readings and interactive modules to offer multiple ways to introduce these new monetary policy tools.
Educators can also find on this page additional readings to deepen their understanding of this subject. All FRE resources are available for free for educators to use in their classroom or easily add to their online Learning Management Software platforms.
