Register for the 2027 High School Fed Challenge

The High School Fed Challenge is a research and writing competition that aims to encourage students in grades 9–12 to learn more about economics and promote interest in economics as a subject for study and the basis for a career. Previous study of economics is not required—only intellectual curiosity and interest in exploring an economic theme.

The 2026–2027 competition theme is Economics of Housing.

This year's theme - Economics of Housing - invites students to explore one of the most essential and complex parts of everyday life. Housing shapes where people live, work, and build community. It reflects economic forces such as supply and demand dynamics, geographic mobility, public policy, and long-term investment.

Students have the opportunity to connect economic principles to real-world questions that affect individuals and communities across the country.

The deadline for advisors to register teams of students for the High School Fed Challenge is February 15, 2027.
